The Tourism Committee meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship as part of the 35th Regional Planning Council (RPC) session, which took place from February 24-27 in Tehran, Iran.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Jalil Malikov, Deputy Chief of Staff and Head of the International Relations Department at the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the ECO Work Plan for 2024 was discussed, and the list of activities scheduled for 2025 was approved.

Key topics included the development of a regional action plan for sustainable tourism, initiatives for preserving Silk Road heritage sites, and promoting member states’ tourism potential within the organization.

Additionally, nominations from member states for the ECO Tourism Advisory Committee were finalized.

Azerbaijan was confirmed as the host for the first ECO Silk Road Working Group meeting, which has been officially included in the organization’s 2024 event calendar.
